Professor Kawalla’s interests lie in the field of materials and metal forming technologies, modelling of materials and hot and cold rolling processes, thin slabs and strips, as well as physical and numerical simulation of steel and nonferrous metals production processes. He is the author of more than 250 papers and 30 patents. He has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor by the National University of Science and Technology "MISiS", Moscow, Russia, and by Silesian University of Technology, Katowice, Poland.
