Abstract

The global tendencies to apply concrete filled steel tube constructions are presented. Structural concepts, as well as the main advantages and disadvantages of concrete filled steel tube columns are given. The factors to constrain their wide practical use are noted. Suggestions to improve the design of compression concrete filled steel tube elements are set out. Practical use of such structures in the experimental procedure is performed in the construction of two objects at OJSC «MMK».

Keywords

Concrete filled steel tube constructions, concrete filled steel tube columns, improvement of the construction, prestressing, experimental installation.
